Here’s the science in plain English.
When you push hard: a sled push, a rowing sprint, a heavy set of wall balls: your muscles generate energy anaerobically. This process produces hydrogen ions (H⁺) as a byproduct. As these ions accumulate, your muscle pH drops from its resting level of around 7.1 toward 6.4. That falling pH is what you feel as the burn.
